Pricing.
While we'd love to say that we have a price list representing our typical fees, the truth is there are no "typical" fees in this business. Actual prices will vary based on the difficulty level of the assignment, the amount of research required before we can begin writing, the need to perform interviews, attend meetings, etc. Let's just say you have a relatively simple assignment that is only going to take us five hours to complete, is it fair to charge you the same dollar amount we would charge a client who has a similar assignment that will take us ten hours to complete? Of course not. That's why we bid our fees on a per project basis. In general, we like to earn about $65 per hour. However, we know most clients are on a strict budget and want to know exactly what to expect, so we usually bid a flat rate. For projects lengthy enough that a fair flat fee is hard to judge, we will bill by the hour. So, if you have a job in mind, we want to discuss the particular details with you so that we can agree on a realistic price. Please contact us with your questions to begin our discussion. Terms.
Consultation. We'll begin with an initial, no-obligation consultation via phone, email, or in person -- whatever suits you best. After this free Q & A, we'll send you a bid letter quoting our price. The bid letter will serve as a simple agreement between us should you sign off on it. Revisions. All bids include any required meetings, interview time, and up to two rounds of revisions in addition to the actual cost of writing the piece. What are revisions? Rewording a sentence or a paragraph. Minor corrections. Short additions. Any major changes requested which will take the piece in an entirely new direction are not revisions. Those will be billed at our hourly rate. If our agreed upon submission deadline for revision requests has passed, we will assume that no revisions were desired. Invoicing. Once you sign off on the bid letter, we'll bill one-third of the cost up front. If you're a new client or the project is worth more than $1000, we'll wait to begin work until we have this deposit in hand. The other two-thirds of the cost will be billed at agreed upon milestones or project completion. It's that simple. Special Circumstances. We have a 2 hour minimum fee for small projects. Rush jobs have a 30% premium, with a $50 minimum. What constitutes a rush job will vary from job to job. In general, a work request expected in less than 4 business days from submission of the request is considered a rush job. |
